Setting Up Autoresponders

How to Setup OTTO-BOTS (Auto Responders)

The initial set up of your OTTOBOT must be done by you at your WebControl interface at:
http://yourdomain.com/.webcontrol

This is the same place where you will find many simple-to-use tools to manage your Virtual Web-Server here at Stellar Hosting.

First you need to decide a few things about the setup and use of your new OTTO-BOT:

A name for your Bot

example: info@yourdomain.com
means the name of your BOT is info.

A password that you will remember for your OTTOBOT. The password is ONLY for your Bot, and will have no bearing on your account or e-mail accounts or FTP.

An e-mail address you want your OTTOBOT to use as "it's master's address" where it will forward all requests it receives from prospects. In other words, someone sends an e-mail to your OTTOBOT and receives whatever text you have loaded into it. Your trusty BOT then forwards this request directly to Its Master... YOU , so you now know who is looking into your products or services and you can now follow up. Isn't he a trusty little ROBOT??

After you decide these things, proceed to your WebControl and create your Bot.

After that you must load the text you want in the body of the OTTOBOT as well as the subject you want it to have. You will do this via e-mail in a simple format we describe below.

Keep in mind , once your Bot. is created , You may change the text and subject as many times as you like during the time you own your new Pet OTTOBOT, 24/7. This is ALWAYS done by you , via e-mail

TO LOAD OR CHANGE SUBJECT AND TEXT FOR YOUR OTTOBOT:

Send an e-mail to your otto Bot. and in the subject line you will place the commands for it to load your text. Let's say your ottobot is named "info" as our example above:

[keep in mind however, that if you already have an e-mail alias named info@yourdomain.com , you cannot name an OTTOBOT or POP3 account the same name. You can name it info1 or any other variation but not the same address for obvious reasons. ]

The address to your Bot. is info@yourdomain.com

So... address your e-mail to your Bot. that way.

In the subject you need to have the password you chose for your OTTOBOT. Let's say your password you picked is "1234", here's how your subject line would read. Also pretend your subject is

"the info you requested"

here's what your subject should look like:

password:1234 the info you requested

[note: The word "password" MUST proceed the actual password and then semicolon ":"]

That would tell your Bot. that it was you, its master, giving it instructions and the Bot. would recognize you by the password. In addition you would need to put the text you want your OTTOBOT. to send to respondents, in the body of this message.

That would set up your OTTOBOT., and every time you want to change the text or the subject of your OTTOBOT., you would do it just that way.

One more important issue. The address you use to send e-mail to your Bot. from, if you put your password in the subject like is necessary to change or load text or subjects, the BOT. will automatically start forwarding all the e-mails it receives from prospects, to this address regardless what address you told it to use from the creation of the Bot. So just be aware of the FROM address you send from when talking to your new friend.

Remember:
Each time someone sends e-mail to your OTTOBOT., [which means they want the info the Bot. has ] that actual e-mail request that the person sends to the Bot., gets forwarded to you by your Bot., so that you always know who is requesting your info so that you can follow-up with the new prospect. The Bot. forwards these request to wherever it perceives that its master lives [your e-mail address]

I hope this very detailed description helps you feel more comfortable about how to own and care for your pet OTTOBOT.
